Make an Impact

Politics affect nearly every aspect of our lives—from education and jobs to housing, healthcare and basic rights.

If you are passionate about political interactions, ideas, government, international affairs, and the law, then a degree in political science—possibly with one of our three concentrations—is right for you.

Find Your Path

As a student in our program, you'll choose one of three curriculum options, all of which result in a bachelor's degree in political science.

The majority of our majors typically specialize in our pre-law concentration. The other half of our political science majors are studying either general political science, or specializing in our international relations concentration.

Passion for Politics

You can earn your degree while sharing your passion for politics, domestic and international affairs, interactions between government and individuals, and the pursuit of justice.

Department of Political Science

In the Department of Political Science at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, you can earn your degree while sharing your passion for politics, domestic and international affairs, interactions between government and individuals, and the pursuit of justice.

Students majoring in our political science program develop analytical skills, hone their critical thinking skills, and become persuasive writers and speakers. From analyzing Socrates' ancient thoughts to debating today’s headlines, our faculty and students engage in discussions and debates that extend beyond the classroom. In fact, political science students at UL Lafayette have opportunities to experience real-world political interactions with internships at local, national, and international levels.

We offer a degree and minor in political science with additional concentrations and minors in pre-law or international relations. Our faculty of experts will guide you through areas of study such as law, voting politics, local government, bureaucratic administration, and international relations and affairs—all in an effort to prepare you for national and global citizenship.
