Atchafalaya Swamp Classic

The UL Moot Court team and Department of Political Science hosted the Atchafalaya Swamp Classic, an invitational moot court tournament with Southern University College of Law as part of the American Moot Court Association (AMCA). We were 1 of 6 recognized invitationals in the nation. We had competitors from 8 schools, including 5 out of the top 10 AMCA programs in the nation, including the College of Wooster in Ohio and Cal State Long Beach.
UL brought home several awards. Shalanda Plowden was 1st place speaker, Cameron Pontiff was 5th place speaker, and Kris Harrison was 6th place speaker out of 78 competitors. Mia Tolliver and Blacin Doucet advanced to elimination rounds.
Our next competition will be the regional American Moot Court Association tournament at Texas A&M University School of Law in Ft. Worth.
